Methodology

BusinessIndex.ca starts with public signals and structured records. Entries are reviewed manually before publication.

The index is intentionally conservative. It records what can be supported by public sources, owner confirmation, authoritative records, or direct evidence.

Status Model

  • listed: a public record or public presence exists
  • observed: manually reviewed from public sources
  • verified: confirmed by owner, authoritative source, or direct evidence
  • featured: editorially highlighted, with explicit editorial basis

Status describes the evidence level for a listing. It does not imply endorsement.
